WHY CONTRIBUTE TO DIS/WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT DIS

To create more opportunities for children and youth to “learn how to learn” in a school where diversity in the classroom is a normal way of life

To support a school that goes beyond intellectual rigour, by emphasizing the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship

To ensure that more students in our school become critical and compassionate thinkers, so that they later become informed participants in local and world affairs

To assist DIS in becoming a “model school” within the “Sächsische Schullandschaft”, which actively exchanges learning strategies with Dresden area schools

To help create an international cultural centre in Dresden, where families of all nationalities can meet.

To support the economic development of Saxony, with DIS serving as a key “Standortfaktor”

To support DIS because the globally recognized IB curriculum allows students to easily re-integrate into state schools or transfer to one of the other 5,000 schools offering the IB around the world. This is essential for international investors as they attempt to recruit top national and international professional staff for employment in Dresden.

The school maintains a balanced budget, but thus far has not been able to set aside capital assessment fees as a capital reserve. Reason: Not-for-profit company (gGmbH)

The DIS school fees are 70% of the school fees families pay on average in western German International Schools.

Since the first graduating class left school in 2004, the school is only having a small group of working alumni who would be able to support the school financially.

Almost 30% of DIS families are paying no or a reduced school fee. There is no selection of students based on their parent’s income. It is always about the student’s ability and if the student fits to the programme.

The school employs more than 100 people from 20 countries and is therefore an important employer in the region.

– There is no company who is supporting the school regularly and that is able to make a big contribution at the moment.
